Lord of the Flies
The book Lord of the Flies is an interesting story. The plot and the details of this book are very much vividly given. What I enjoy about this book so far is the characteristics of the characters, and what their view of the "beast" is. Such as Simon, Simon is known for the book to be "strange" and "shy," and his belief of the beast are odd as well. Simon believes that mankind is the beast, on page eighty-nine he states "maybe it's only us." This belief gives us an idea that maybe the beast is only in the imagination of the boys. Another character that I find interesting is Piggy. Piggy is known to be that character that no one takes seriously. His asthma and his ideas make all the boys in the book irritated of him. Piggy's view of the beast is peculiar as well. He does not believe in the beast but is afraid of people. On the page, eighty-four Piggy says "unless we are frightened of people." Piggy is the only one in the book that can see the "world clearly." Meaning he is the only person in the book that can see the reality. Therefore he believes that they should be scared of people, not the beast.
Lord of the Flies has many foreshadowing and symbolism in the book that I discovered as well. Throughout this book, Golding symbolizes Simon to believe that the beast is the "devil" and Simon is "Jesus." Golding also foreshadows on page 111, where Simon believes Ralph will be the only one that will make it out of the island while Simon and the rest will remain on the island...
I thought it was interesting also! I really like how you gave page numbers and detailed descriptions of the character.
