About me!

My name is Muskaan Mahes. I am fourteen years old. I was born in the Netherlands, and lived there for about two years! I am ethnically diverse of Indian, Dutch, and South American! I have been to more than twenty countries in the world. The sports I do are cross country, soccer, and track. I love to dance and draw. I love to draw flowers or mehndi (henna.) When I grow up I would like to study pharmacology in New York!

Without fire we can't be rescued. So we must stay by the fire and make smoke." (142)      I picked this passage because there are two meaningful parts, that represent a bigger understanding. First is the fire, Ralph shows how important it is for a fire to be made. If there is not a fire then there is no smoke. The smoke is supposed to be a signal for ships passing by the island. If there is no smoke, then it leads to the chance of the boys never getting rescued. This is why the fire is an important aspect of the story. Research Post

     My research topic is on Queen Hatshepsut achievements during her reign. Queen Hatshepsut was one of the seven women to rule Egypt as a female pharaoh. Queen Hatshepsut made Egyptian history impressive, by being the most successful female pharaoh to rule. She brought prosperity, peace, great art and great monuments to her kingdom. Though, what made her rule so successful were her building projects. Queen Hatshepsut built quite a few monuments such as the Karnak Temple and her remarkable mortuary temple. The mortuary temple called the Deir el-Bahri is her most famous building projects. The Deir el- Bahri contains major events that had happened during Hatshepsut life. One event that I find monumental is the Expedition to Punt. This expedition was ordered from Queen Hatshepsut. The main point of this expedition was for trading. Symbolism

     It was 4:45 am, Mira woke up and got ready to work. After Mira was done taking a shower and brushing her teeth, she looked in the mirror. All she saw was her dull shadow in the mirror. She felt as she was lonely, not powerful, or confident enough. Mira worked in a town, where she didn't feel happy or didn't have the courage to feel happy. She was a simple girl who had no friends nor family to aid her in help.      Mira arrived at her work at 6 am and would begin to open up the shop. Mira worked every day. She would see the same people every day but not this time. As Mira went outside to turn the closed sign to open,  an old lady who sold lipsticks came up to her. She handed Mira a red lipstick. Mira shook her head and said: "I have no money to buy the lipstick."
